Excited about Zaishen Challenge Quests
I see some real fun possibilities with the way these quests appear to operate.
It Says:
* Mission quests send you to replay storyline missions from each campaign.
* Bounty quests dispatch you to kill boss monsters in dungeons, veteran missions, and explorable areas.
* PvP quests challenge you to win battles in various PvP types.
I'm particularly excited about the bounty quests. I hope the first bounty is the famous:
Obviously if the rewards aren't good enough to warrant even doing these tasks then this idea will fall on its face, so I do have some reserve thoughts about it as well.
It is purely speculation on my part, but i hope this gives us a reason to be interested in some pug'ing again. Since these quests are not repeatable = somewhat not farmable in the sense of you have to have 8 players with XXXX build or you can't come.
Does anyone else share my excitement for this new way to play existing content?
EDIT:Info is at the bottom of this page.

What I fear is that experienced players will shout at/insult less experienced ones because of their bad builds, aggro management or whatever. On the other hand, it could also turn out to be the perfect way for the experienced players to teach one thing or two to the newer players.

So you will do all the same as before, but for a small reward.
I like it.

Most of the decent/good players will stick to their guilds/alliances(Edit:Friendslist) leaving the bad players to play with each other.

Unless they give us a lolipop as reward.. is fine.
I'm thinking 2 things:
- Will that quest be by char or by account? I mean.. can i kill X boss several times, once with each char?
- What's the new thing that will make "us" play together again for the bounties?. If is in a dungeon, simply take a run as now, kill him along the way, end of history. If is in a remote explorable zone: runner (perma maybe?) & human + H&H (sab, disc, roj, ...) .. same.
Unless elite zones... that's gonna be quick, i bet.
For missions I dunno, but that's my 2c at bounty quests :S.

I'm happy because the zaishen cahllenge and zaishen elite challenge are really lame. This change may make the zaishen presence on that island worth something.

I suspect the update'll be the middle of next week, as it is mentioned on the update preview that the event starts just before the live update on the 23rd.

Pugging huh?
Nah. I expect people will do it with heroes, just like everything else - I would.

...No.
And not just for the obvious "I don't like failing pve" reason.
Taking heroes + 1 or 2 pugs is fine, as you're 4 man cell is likely able to handle anything NM pve can throw at you. Thus;
The pugs feel they're contributing,
You succeed -> pugs are happy / selfconfidence++
Pugs still pick up tips.
You + 7 average pugs is just asking for trouble.

I plan on doing this ONLY if it includes non-repeatable quests (Althea's Ashes on my assassin! In HM! *faints*).
If it's repeatable quests only - I won't be doing them the same way that I am not doing them now.

This. Il probably find it much quicker and less effort to do it myself. Il take a friend/guildie along if they happen to be doing the same quest, But otherwise il stick to my triple necros.
Although a few days ago in GToB the devs mentioned that there will be Elite Area quests, eg kill urgoz. So that'l force me to PuG up or find abunch of guildies.

I AM EXCITED =D. new quests to do everyday with decent difficulty and decent rewards? something new to do? can't wait =D hopefully it isn't a let down, but i think they will have to be pretty bad to be a let down. it's probably something that has been in the works for a while now, so hopefully ANET has thought it through very thoroughly. we will see

- Hope so, but unlikely. Every time they promise new stuff, their talks are on way higher level than actual execution. Remember when they said polymock is like "Pokémon on crack". Do you see anyone playing that stuff if not for skill rewards? Is there market for those golden game pieces dropping in dungeons? Jade Quarry the ghost town since day one of Factions release?
You have to be a gamer to understand how to design games. All of these are just superficial ideas, barebone structures, which don't have the necessary elements to keep players hooked.
Zaishen quests will be:
1. Travel to this area and do this mission / kill this boss (which you've already done)
2. Return to get zaishen coin
3. Exchange zaishen coin to get your identification kit / ale / lockpick / zaishen key
People will do it for novelty for some time, then they return to what they were doing before update, because that stuff is faster and more efficient for farming. This is how it will be.
